Savannah, GA – This weekend more than 180 volunteers from Civil Air Patrol’s Georgia Wing (CAP) will arrive at the Air Dominance Center in Savannah for their annual encampment. This week-long intensive training activity, July 2-8, takes CAP’s newest cadets (ages 12-18) and inspires them to:
•    develop leadership skills,
•    learn about aviation, space, and technology,
•    commit to a habit of regular exercise, and
•    live CAP’s Core Values of Integrity, Excellence, Volunteer Service, and Respect.

The encampment is mostly led by other experienced cadets who will teach their students to work together through daily physical fitness training, leadership classes, STEM opportunities including orientation flights, and teamwork activities including a challenging obstacle course. Cadets leave at the end of the week with a newfound excitement about what they can accomplish in life regardless of their age and use it as their foundation as they learn to lead their peers in the CAP Cadet Program.

This is the second encampment CAP has held at the Air Dominance Center; the first in September 2021 served to bring up new leaders in the Cadet Program following the lack of activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. More details regarding specific activities during the encampment will be provided when they become available
